Before you set off for Munich, let’s go over some important points. And a few extra bits of information. All without the crowds at the „Wiesn“...
What is the Summer of Purpose in one sentence?

A curated space for encounter and reflection, designed for people in positions of responsibility who want to learn, reflect, and shape the future together in times of change.

The Summer of Purpose is initiated by Hans Reitz and supported by a board of trustees comprising distinguished figures from academia, culture, and civil society—including Prof. Dr. Claudia Peus, Prof. Dr. Dieter Frey, Tamara Dietl, Nais Graswald, Prof. Dr. Timo Meynhardt, and Amelie Deuflhard.

Beyond this core group, an extended network of international voices, entrepreneurs, academics, and long-standing companions contributes to the initiative—among them Muhammad Yunus, Michael Otto, Eckart von Hirschhausen, Moritz van Dülmen, and many others.

People from an established circle of leaders in business, academia, culture, and society—as well as long-standing companions, entrepreneurs, social entrepreneurs, and individuals from civil society, friendships, and family.

No.
The Summer of Purpose is not an open-ticket event. It thrives on invitation, trust, relationship, and a shared commitment to taking responsibility.

Not primarily through ticket sales, but through an ethos akin to the Dana principle:
those who experience the value of this space contribute so that others may experience it too.

The Summer of Purpose 2026 is closely connected to Hans Reitz‘s 60th birthday on July 15—but intentionally extends beyond it:

The evening of July 15 marks the opening. July 16 is the main day of learning and encounter. July 17 can optionally be included as a shared conclusion in Munich.

Die Eröffnung ist am 15. Juli im Audimax der TUM geplant.
Der 16. Juli findet an gebündelten Orten in München statt, der 17. Juli ist als optionaler Stadttag mit
Abendveranstaltung angelegt.

To strengthen people in building community, embodying integrity, and taking responsibility in ways that create impact for others.
An invitation to come together with good people in times of change—and to draw from that orientation, connection, and renewed capacity for action.
